Length: 12,5 km

Difference in altitude: uphill 297 m – downhill 348 m

Difficulty: easy

Duration: 4 hrs.

Brief description

Today we begin the descent towards the plains of the Basso Sulcis where there is still vast evidence of the mining activity. We walk through the lead, zinc and copper mine of Sa Marchesa where we can observe numerous disused limestone quarries. We encounter traces of the railway that once connected the Cixerri valley to the Basso Sulcis and then to the island of Sant’Antioco. Finally we pass under one of these railway’s bridges and walk on comfortable dirt roads, mule tracks and, in the final part of the route, asphalted roads.
