On  December 17^th 2016, thanks to the results reached by the Partnership Program in the first phase of work, and in consideration of the intense interest raised among the field operators as among the pilgrims / excursionists who in thousands have already walked the itinerary, the Partners of the Project decided to set up a foundation of participation called Cammino Minerario di Santa Barbara Foundation. The Municipalities of Arbus, Buggerru, Carbonia, Fluminimaggiore, Giba, Gonnesa, Gonnosfanadiga, Guspini, Iglesias, Masainas, Museums, Narcao, Nuxis, Piscinas, San Giovanni Suergiu, Santadi, Sant’Antioco, Tratalias, Villacidro, Villamassargia and Villaperuccio ‘”ONLUS POZZO SELLA Association for the Geo-mining Park”, are the founding members. The Dioceses of Iglesias and Ales Terralba have also joined the Foundation as members.

The Foundation, will implement, promote and manage the itinerary, emit the credentials to the pilgrims/excursionists, make GPS tracks available, put up the temporary road signs as well as the definitive ones for the final preparation and completion of the itinerary as well as provide all the useful information necessary for a proper use of the same.

The Foundation is a non-profit organization. All proceeds and assets of its activities are destined to the fulfillment of its statutory objectives

The Foundation’s principal assets are constituted by knowledge, studies, surveys and documentation, as well as to the itinerary’s brand and internet domains, both conferred gratuitously by the “Pozzo Sella Association”, who in turn obliged to signing the articles of partnership, and to the endowment fund made up of money contributed by the remaining founding Members.

The constitution of the Foundation represents a reason of great satisfaction and pride for all the volunteers who have contributed with generosity, competence and gratuitousness to the achievement of this result.

It was a new and tiring and at the same time extraordinary and exhilarating experience that only those who have deep love for their land can do.

But the real masterpiece of institutional unity has been made by the Municipal Councils of the Municipalities involved who, with their unanimous resolutions, have thrown a seed of social cohesion with the decision to start the Cammino Minerario di Santa Barbara Foundation.
