Located on the homonymous hill overlooking the city of Iglesias and built in the first half of the 17th century, it is currently used as a monastery by the Clarissa Nuns. The cult of the Madonna del Buon Cammino is in continuity with that of the Virgin Odighitria, of Byzantine origin like Santa Barbara, which means “guide of the way” or “conductor”. The passage through this sanctuary therefore allows hikers and pilgrims to start their journey from a place of worship and prayer dedicated to the Virgin of the Good Way, which traditionally indicates the direction to travelers. To visit the sanctuary it is advisable to call 0781.31427, possibly the night before, in order to ask the always courteous Clarisse nuns to keep the church open.
