Over 40% of the itinerary develops along the traces of the old railways that went from Iglesias to Calasetta and from Monteponi to Portovesme. You visit a remarkable heritage of industrial archeology, including the San Giovanni mine, from whose galleries you can access the splendid Santa Barbara cave. The variant towards Seddas Moddizzis, which lengthens the stage by about 9 km, allows you to visit numerous mines that are not crossed by the old railway track. A further variant consists in covering the last 2.3 km of the stage following the path of the ancient procession from Monteponi to Iglesias.
